Focal Activities

JWT activities include process studies and implementation of various methods for recovery of platinum group metals and precious metals.  This includes printed circuit board feeds and auto catalyst type materials.  Pretreatment of Li-ion batteries is receiving attention in its process range.

JWT is driven to find viable process solutions for valorization of various wastes to advance the circular economy.  Pyrolysis, gasification and plasma treatment are potential technologies in the arena and the company has in-depth experience in all these areas.

JWT has previously been evaluating the reduction of carbon from power station fly ash for recovery of energy and development of recyclable ash for the cement & construction industry. This has resulted in a number of patents for our clients.

JWT is actively promoting TORBED® Reactor Technology for treatment of Ventilation Air Methane, VAM through its involvement with Raven Ridge Energy Ventures, LLC.

JWT was an equity partner with a Canadian team researching plasma processing for syngas production from various organic bearing waste streams such as waste plastics, oils, asphalt tiles, automobile shredder residues, MSW, tires and biomass materials.  Pre-feasibility evaluations of high temperature processing of wastes, containing organic or oil fractions, have indicated attractive process routes for production of high-grade synthesis gas, with simultaneous detoxification of the waste, recovery of metals and production of inert ceramic materials with potential added value.  The synthetic gas may be used for alternative power generation or as a feedstock for other processes. Combined with waste heat recovery, overall efficiencies can be a substantial improvement on typical steam turbine cycles.
